Rooibos Tea is a naturally caffeine-free tea made from the Rooibos shrub, Aspalathus linearis, which grows exclusively on the Cedarberg Mountains of South africa. Needing no irrigation nor fertilization, the plants are harvested by cutting the green, needle-like leaves which are then left to dry in the hot African sun. They turn a beautiful mahogany red color, thus giving the name REDBUSH. Annique uses only the top fresh young tips for the finest quality tea. |

Mix together the liquids and add to the dry ingredients and mix to a soft dough. Roll the dough out on a floured board (or push it out with your fingers) and cut out circles with a medium size cookie cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet and brush the tops with oil or milk. Bake at 425ºF for 15 minutes. Serve with jam (jelly) and cream. eeee AMBROSIA FRUIT SKEWERS Ingredient for six 2 firm ripe peaches 1 firm ripe pear 3 kiwi fruit 1/2 pineapple 2 bananas 3 apricots 12 cherries, (canned or fresh) For the Marinade 1/2 cup strong Rooibos tea 1/2 cup semi-sweet wine 1/4 cup honey 3 tablespoons brandy or any fruit-based liqueur 2 cloves 1 small cinnamon stick 3/4 teaspoon almond essence 2 teaspoons vanilla essence To make the marinade, heat the tea, wine, honey, brandy (or liqueur) cloves and cinnamon until the honey has melted completely. Leave to cool and then add the almond and vanilla essence. Peel the peaches, pear, kiwi fruit, pineapple and bananas, and cut into 1 inch pieces of even size. Halve and stone the apricots, and stone the cherries if necessary. Thread the fruit in an attractive color sequence on to 6 wood skewers which have been soaked in water , dividing the fruit equally among the skewers. Arrange the skewers in a shallow dish and pour over the strained marinade. Cover and chill for 3 hours, turning from time to time. Cut 6 pieces of heavy-duty aluminium foil large enough for each to contain one skewer completely. Place the skewers in the centres of the foil pieces and spoon over marinade. Seal the foil well. Grill in a clamp grid until heated through (about 15 minutes) turning once. If you do not have a clamp grid, carefully turn the foil packages with tongs, making sure not to pierce them. To serve, open the foil packets over individual plates so that none of the marinade sauce is lost. Sprinkle with grated coconut or flaked almonds and serve with cream or ice cream. |

"Allergies: An amazing discovery"
She is renowned worldwide for this remarkable discovery. In fact, she
was honored with a Gold Medal as the Best Woman Inventor of 1997 in
Geneva, Switzerland. on's amazing discovery and her
documented case histories are being heralded all over the world. The
life-saving benefits of the discovery have become too important to be
kept under wraps in the land of its origin. She didn't leave a stone
unturned to spread the word and lend credibility to the benefits and
uniqueness of the discovery, the herbal tea, and its undisputed
therapeutic value.
Through exhaustive research and personal involvement with hundreds of
babies and their mothers, she verified her original findings and
finally knew she had stumbled onto something rare and extraordinary.
She went on a mission through South Africa to find babies with similar
problems to that of her own baby, who suffered from allergies for milk
and a host of other foods. She searched for someone with enough courage
to join her crusade - and found no one. Then she was left to her own
devices. It was only flint-hard dedication that pulled her through the
years of battling with the babies and their feeding problems. She had
to do it in order to prove an astounding point : Rooibos, a natural
herbal tea, found only in South Africa, has the propensity toward
alleviating allergies.
Searching high and low she could not find any reference framework. She
had to start from scratch and she would have to dedicate her life to
bringing her findings to mothers with similar problems with their
babies as that of her own. She knew it would be a challenge. As she
discovered later, a prophet is not honored in his own land.
Due to her discovery and her unrelenting efforts to promote the
benefits of Rooibos, she had been instrumental in adding value &
new life to an impoverished and struggling industry. At the time it was
limping under the burden of surpluses and control due to the supply
exceeding the demand by far. It was a true Cinderella industry.
However, that was not the end of the story. Dr Theron came to the
realization she had to take up the cudgels on behalf of a much wider
circle of babies and their mothers. She had to go the extra mile in
order to bring the safe, natural and soothing benefits of this truly
remarkable herbal tea to the entire world.
This meant she had to take the road less-traveled by. The journey was a
lonely one yet crowded with babies, who suffered from a plethora of
conditions like colic, insomnia, constant crying, vomiting, eczema,
etc., caused mostly by allergies and food-intolerances.
