Rooibos Tea is a natural caffeiene-free tea made from the Rooibos shrub which grows exclusively on the Cedarberg Mountains of South Africa.  The green, needle-like leaves of the plant are cut and left to dry in the hot African sun.  They turn a beautiful mahogany red color, thus giving the name, REDBUSH.  Rooibos is the local South African Afrikaans translation of Redbush.

The tea is harvested at the fields, and there are many companies that package the tea under their own labels.  ANNIQUE uses only the tips of the leaves for the freshest and tastiest blends.

Dr. Annique Theron stumbled on the natural healing powers of Rooibos when, one sunny April morning in 1968. Her youngest daughter was a cholicy and fussy baby, and while she was baking one day and the child cried, to quickly heat up a bottle of milk, she added some of the warm Rooibos tea that she was drinking to her baby's bottle.  Annique was amazed at the calming, soothing and healing effect it had on her baby daughter  and the child slept for a full four hours after drinking the tea.

She set out to investigate the tea's healing potential and found she stood alone in her discovery of its anti-allergic qualities.   She published her findings in her book "Allergies: An Amazing Discovery".

Dr. Theron then experimented with the extract of the tea, and discovered that skin creams had the same restorative properties.  She developed a range of cosmetics and skin care products that are natural and the baby range of products is excellent.
